Crowthorne Reduce Our Waste (CROW)

As part of our commitment to working intensively in Sustainability, Wellington College is an engaged and active member in the local campaign against plastics promoted by Crowthorne Reduce Our Waste (CROW). Sustainability for Wellington is considered a balancing act – a sustainable model for the human race and the Planet – that includes the idea of a global society “founded on respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice, and a culture of peace. We consider that the eradication of single-use plastics is an important step for our societies. Our College has committed to eliminating the use of three main single-use plastics, and it is working towards a Plastic Free Schools status promoted by Surfers Against Sewage through its Environmental society and interested students in the topic. On the 20th of May 2018, we would like to invite all the Wellington community to take part in the “Big Community Litter Pick” organised by CROW. This event is of high importance as it promotes the sense of community among inhabitants of Crowthorne, raises awareness about waste and plastics, engages our community in caring about our environment, and we collaborate with CROW in the aim to working together in achieving a Free of Plastics status for Crowthorne.
