As the Fifth Form say goodbye to GCSEs and head off to the Summer, it’s time for them to start thinking about their holiday reading. The English Dept is asking all future A Level and IB candidates to read these books – but of course, you don’t have to be studying English next year to enjoy them during those lazy, hazy days of summer.

The head of Dept, Ms. Gutulan writes: ”

The attached list should inspire your summer reading and thinking around the subject, whereas the books listed above should be read by everyone as an introduction to the literary aspects essential to your course. These will be discussed during the first two weeks of term. These books will not necessarily be your set texts as such, however – your set texts will be introduced to you in Autumn
